April Showers Bring May Flowers…and Sweet Crepes!

newsletter_may3You know what they say, “April showers bring May flowers.” And this, indeed, is the time of the year when we say “Au revoir” to snow and ice and we welcome blooming flowers and singing birds. While you wait for summer’s official arrival, there are still plenty of things heating up in May.

Did you know that Cinco de Mayo is a historic time commemorating the victory of the Mexicans over the French during the battle of Pueblo. Cinco de Mayo is a celebration of the Mexican culture featuring traditional Mexican food, music and dance. The biggest celebration is held in…yes…you guessed it, Puebla, Mexico. But no worries, the city of Vancouver offers one of the more unique celebrations with a “skydiving boogie” that features aerial acrobatics and an air show…for a Cinco the Mayo to remember!

The month May was named for “Maia”, the Greek goddess of fertility, and it’s no wonder all the awesome moms in the world are celebrated on the second Sunday of every May. But did you know:

  • Mother’s Day is the third most popular holiday in the world, second to only Christmas and Easter.
  • A research study found that moms love getting flowers so much…but they love crepes even more!

OK, that last one might not be a scientific fact, but this month we created a special treat to wish all moms a Happy Mother’s Day. Our feature crepe “Sweet mom” is filled with fresh sliced banana and topped with a drizzle of dulce de leche and a sprinkling of coconut. For a delicacy that is sure to be as sweet as your mom!
