Mom’s the Word – Happy Mother’s Day!

Most people gladly celebrate the long weekend in May – traditionally known as “May Two-Four” or “May Long Weekend” – by opening the cottage, planting their gardens or catching an awe-inspiring fireworks display. We can thank Queen Victoria for these spring festivities – May 21st is Victoria Day, in celebration of not only her birthday, but also in celebration of the current monarch.

Now, putting the long weekend aside, mothers everywhere will be only too happy to remind you (and mothers know best!) that May is the most important month because of Mother’s Day. It falls on the second Sunday in May in most countries around the world, including Canada –May 13th this year, so mark your calendars! And if you are wondering who first declared that we should have a special day to pay tribute to moms, it was US President Woodrow Wilson – back in 1914.

Wondering how you should you celebrate your “Mom”, “Mum”, “Mommy”, “Momma”, “Mama” or “Maman” this year? Well, rather than buying her an over-priced bouquet of flowers (not always so lovely during allergy season), or a mega-box of chocolates (she’s trying to shed a few pounds for bikini season!), we have a better idea. In our opinion, the next best thing to cooking a homemade dinner is treating your mother to this month’s sweet Crepe Delicious offering: a Sweet Mom crepe. Filled with fresh sliced banana, and topped with a drizzle of delectable dulce de leche and a sprinkling of coconut, this delicacy is sure to be as sweet as your mom – in fact, it was named for her!  Don’t forget to follow us on Facebook and Twitter for another exclusive Mother’s Day offer!
